I first got an email from Gary saying he heard I would be in NYC and whether we could organise an engagement shoot there. His emails were a little vague and non-committal at first, however I understood why when we finally met and he explained it to me early one morning in Central Park. You see Gary was planning to propose to his sweetheart, but hadn’t yet quite done it when he contacted me, so was waiting to confirm the outcome. Although when you hear his proposal story I’m not sure how any girl could’ve said anything but yes! Gary had asked the talented Winnie from Winnie Q Events to help him design a proposal setting that was so romantic and thoughtful. The location was the soccer pitch where Gary and Jacqueline first met playing mixed soccer together. The brief to Winnie was to go big, bold and romantic. They organised for a candlelit, balloon-lined walkway along the soccer pitch which led up to giant illuminated letters spelling ‘Marry Me’. You can see the pictures here on Winnie’s blog. It’s no wonder that Jacqueline’s answer was a tear-filled resounding ‘YES’!
Then on top of that he organised a photo shoot with me in NYC as an extra surprise – what a sweetheart! These two are such an adorable couple – you can really feel the love between them and it was such a joy to shoot them. We met early, discovered Central Park together, then hopped into a yellow cab to The New York Public Library and Grand Central Station.
Gary and Jackie, it was so lovely to meet you and explore NYC a little bit together. Thank you for getting up at the crack of dawn so we could catch some of that lovely early light and I look forward to seeing the rest of your wedding journey together! x
